Cyberpunk 2077 review
At the beginning of Cyberpunk 2077, there are several side missions that you can use to track down rogue AI buggy-operated taxis. You have to prevent a cab from committing suicide while thinking of crossing a bridge while forcing another to act, and the third is a clear indication that a popular video game manipulates you with artificial intelligence while they are chasing you. It is one of the best side quests in the game, a wonderful and unique human story that will reward you with a large amount of money that you desperately need. It’s also an excuse to send you to every corner of Night City, and it’s a smart introduction to any areas you haven’t visited.
Before I could do Cyberpunk 2077 review, I spent a lot of time playing around looking for similar research topics like this. I got excited about the premise. I wanted to find something interesting, fun, or rewarding in the end, and in many cases, I did. After completing the main story, I don’t see how most of these activities fit into the overall narrative or the character I was playing with. The main story doesn’t even match.
Cyberpunk 2077 relies heavily on its physical source, with everything from the world itself to the life and death of Johnny Silverhand, drawing on his pen and paper inspiration. But unlike the RPG board game, in Cyberpunk 2077, you don’t play a part in your creativity. You’re playing V, and this is V’s story, not yours. It often felt like I played two different characters: V for the side missions and a limited V for the main level.
This is mainly because the main story puts you on the clock. It doesn’t have a literal timer, but it’s pretty compelling, like RPG stories often, and has the same issues as a result. It’s weird to throw away the fun stuff when you have a severe and general threat to deal with, and in the case of Vs., there is no point in slowing down.
Welcome to the machine
I knew from the beginning that I wanted to play as a hacker, so I ran through the character creator, gave my intellectual and calm V-Points to stealth or stealth, and the game started. I chose Nomadic Life Path out of the three available options because it was the only one that placed V as an alien from Night City. I thought I didn’t know about Night City when I was new to the game.
From what I can tell, this life path choice did not influence more than the game’s launch and some dialogue options (and maybe some minor side quests). After completing the story, I’m more curious about the Corpo life path that V used to work on at the opposing company Arasaka and how it fits in with what I’ve been playing with. Still, it doesn’t seem like a massive decision in my experience.
It is emblematic of the world of Cyberpunk 2077. It is full of things that you can buy, do, and see, and yet many of them do not seem necessary. Night City is a vast city, and although you can travel quickly from specific points, you often have to walk or drive to your destination. I started comparing Ripperdoc prices with the next one.
– How to update electronic software is expensive, but after the third, I stopped because I did not want to wander around the city all day. For the same reason, I only went shopping once and managed to steal more than one cute outfit from the corpses.
Keanu Reeves: the man, the legend
Legendary rocker Johnny Silverhand is with you for the majority of the game, popping up on almost every mission to try to influence your decisions, make disparaging comments, or sit on a bed in the background while you talk to someone. His relationship with V is often hostile, sometimes playful, and sometimes downright hostile.
Johnny is just an idiot. It’s a testimonial to Keanu Reeves’ performance that I really liked. He abused his friends and women. As the dialogue options commonly indicate, you may or may not be classified as a terrorist. Before his death in 2023, he planted a nuclear weapon at the Arasaka Tower, an attack on corporate imperialism that killed many people and was a significant event in the original backgammon game.
Aside from the featured characters, the side quests are by far the best part of the game. Like the rogue taxi that I mentioned at the beginning of this review, there are some clever, interesting, silly, and sad side missions that I really enjoyed. At the gameplay level, they often offer a nice twist on the battle-focused main story.

Superficial and “neurotic” aesthetic decisions often have no real purpose, so they scratch rather than add something relevant to the world.
The inclusion of different cultures and backgrounds is highly inconsistent, from good to imprecise and downright offensive.
The main story doesn’t match the rest of the game, with the urgency colliding with everything else.
Technical problems, from visual errors to complete failures, are too common to ignore.
Cyberpunk 2077 has excellent graphics, unique simulation systems, and mission design. You’ll get a lot of money here if you can get past some of the unfortunate glitches in the game mechanics.
